Description:

This course meets CA AB 1598 Legal Mandates requiring Law Enforcement & Fire collaboration on policy, training, response, emergency treatment & extraction protocols for Active Shooter (AS) and Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI).  

This 2-day (16 hours) course is designed for Law Enforcement, Fire and Public Safety Dispatch personnel and provides specific knowledge, information and guidelines to increase survivability of victims during an Active Shooter (AS) or Mass Casualty Incident (MCI).  Topics include a trending analysis of AS and terrorist incidents, emergency planning and training for MCI, Unified Command and ICS (Incident Command System), Immediate Action Rapid Deployment (IARD) intervention tactics and a framework for law enforcement and fire to integrate responses during these incidents using the Rescue Task Force (RTF) concept.

Day 2 is a full day of AS/MCI and RTF practical exercises to teach and evaluate attendees. 

(SF Bay Area - this course can be FREE - eligible for DHS grant funding through BA-UASI) 

SF Bay Area Prerequisites:  Attendees must be full-time peace officers, fire/EMS and dispatchers employed within the twelve-county Bay Area UASI Region. This includes the counties of Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solono, Contra Costa, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, Monterey and San Francisco.   

 

Class Size/Make-up:  Maximum = 40

 Law Enforcement Attendees        = 16      

 Fire Fighter /EMS Paramedic      = 16    

 Dispatch/Communications           = 08     

 

Special Equipment:

  Day 1 = Casual business attire (including jeans);

  Day 2 = Duty uniform w/patches (BDU uniform preferred).

  Law enforcement: Bring equipment duty belt & empty holster; no weapons/chemical agents.

  Fire/EMS: Bring Rescue Packs & emergency evacuation blankets used for victim extraction.
